Ways to Give

Empower Your Community.
Transform Lives.

At the Perry Outreach Center, we believe that everyone deserves access to essential resources, regardless of their circumstances. Our mission is to provide food, health services, educational programs, and community support to the residents of Southwest Detroit 48217 community and our neighboring communities. But we can’t do it alone—we need your help to continue making a difference.

When you donate to the Perry Outreach Center, you’re not just giving money, food, or time—you’re investing in the future of your community. Your support directly impacts the lives of your neighbors, helping them overcome challenges and build a better life. Together, we can create a stronger, healthier, and more resilient Southwest Detroit.

Ways to Give

There are many ways you can contribute to the Perry Outreach Center’s mission:

1. Cash Donations

Monetary donations are the most flexible way to support our work. They allow us to allocate funds where they are needed most, whether that’s purchasing food for the pantry, funding educational programs, or covering operational expenses. You can make a one-time donation or set up a recurring gift to provide ongoing support. Every contribution, no matter the size, has a direct impact on our community.

2. Food Donations

We rely heavily on food donations to keep our pantry stocked and ready to serve the community. Donations of non-perishable items, fresh produce, dairy, and meat (fresh or frozen) are always welcome.

  • What We Need: Canned goods, boxed meals, fresh produce, dairy products, proteins (meat, poultry, fish), baby formula, and other essentials.
  • Drop-Off Location: Food donations can be dropped off at our center on Wednesdays between 10a and 2p or by appointment.

3. Volunteer Your Time

Volunteers are the backbone of the Perry Outreach Center. Whether you have a few hours a week or just want to help out one time, we have opportunities for you to get involved.

  • Pantry Volunteers: Help us sort and distribute food on shelves and in storage.
  • Office Volunteers: Lend your experience with entering spreadsheet info, coordinating our newsletter and other computer based tasks.
  • Program Assistants: Support our music, computer, and job readiness classes.
  • Event Volunteers: Assist with fundraising events, health screenings, and community outreach.

Why We Need Your Support

The challenges facing our community are significant. The 48217 zip code is one of Detroit’s most underserved areas, with nearly 27.3% of residents living below the poverty line and limited access to grocery stores, healthcare, and educational opportunities. Despite these obstacles, the Perry Outreach Center has become a lifeline for hundreds of families and individuals, offering vital services that empower our neighbors to lead healthier, more stable lives.

However, meeting these needs requires resources—both financial and material. Your generous donations allow us to:

  • Provide Food for Families in Need: Our food pantry serves over 100 families every month with nutritious food boxes. With your financial support, we can purchase additional fresh produce, dairy, and proteins to ensure our clients have access to healthy meals. Every dollar you donate helps us put food on the table for those who need it most.
  • Expand Health and Educational Services: From free health screenings to music classes for children and computer training for seniors, your donations enable us to offer a wide range of programs that enrich lives and build stronger futures. With additional funding, we can increase the number of people we serve and introduce new programs that address emerging needs in our community.
  • Maintain and Grow Our Operations: Running a community center requires resources beyond the direct services we provide. Donations help us cover operational costs, manage our facilities, and ensure that our programs continue without interruption. Your support keeps our doors open and our services running smoothly.

Thank You for Your Generosity

We are deeply grateful for the support of our donors, volunteers, and community partners. Your contributions make it possible for us to continue our mission and extend our reach to more individuals and families in need. Thank you for standing with us in the fight against poverty and for helping to build a brighter future for all.

Please donate today and make a difference.
